Security Shouldn’t Be the Last Step in Your Deployment Pipeline

Security can sometimes end up being the last thing teams think about before a deployment goes live.

The problem is that by that point, infrastructure and application changes are already in place. If a security issue shows up during the final review, the team may have to go back and revisit changes that were otherwise ready to ship.

It makes more sense to bring security into the deployment process earlier. Automated checks can help catch issues with things like infrastructure configuration, permissions, secrets, or dependencies before they reach production. Manual reviews still make sense for higher-risk changes, but not every deployment needs another approval gate.

The goal isn't to add more gates. It's to catch meaningful risks early enough that fixing them doesn't disrupt the release.

How are you building security into your deployment process without making deployments harder or slower?
