The Infrastructure Weak Points You Don’t See Until You Scale

Some infrastructure problems don't show up until an application starts growing.

An application can run smoothly for a long time. Then traffic increases, more users come in, datasets get larger, and parts of the system that seemed fine before start showing their limits.

Maybe the database starts running into connection limits. Background jobs begin falling behind. A shared service becomes a bottleneck. Or a deployment process that used to be straightforward suddenly takes much more effort to manage.

The tricky part is that the first problem isn't always where you expect it to be. Adding more compute might help in some cases, but it won't fix a database bottleneck or an architectural limitation.

For those who have taken an application or cloud environment through a period of growth:

What was the first infrastructure issue that caught you off guard?

What did you notice first, and how did you eventually figure out what was actually causing it?
